Dr. Marisa Anaya brings her expertise in Acupuncture and Asian Medicine, as well as her belief in the power of human connection, to every patient encounter. After first experiencing the many benefits of Asian medicine as a recipient of acupuncture in Tokyo, Marisa decided to change professions. She left a successful career teaching English Literature and Drama at one of England’s most prestigious private schools in order to follow her passion to help others heal. Dr. Anaya fully embraces the holistic nature of this ancient healing art, and the “teacher” still in her enjoys educating her patients about the many physical and emotional imbalances that acupuncture can treat effectively.

Dr. Anaya also recognizes that today’s demanding world requires putting your best face forward. In order to help her patients look and feel younger and more vibrant, she has dedicated a great part of her professional practice to becoming a highly-skilled expert in natural Facial Rejuvenation and Cosmetic Acupuncture. Marisa’s distinguished reputation has allowed her to share her expertise and teach other acupuncturists as part of their Continuing Education credits for Board Certification. She has also done freelance protocol design and acupuncture training for a top NYC wellness center. Dr. Anaya incorporates highly effective Triawave Microcurrent and sound wave technology for facial sculpting, and top-of-the-line skincare into her advanced treatments.

With double Bachelor’s degrees from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Masters degrees from Kings College of London and the Pacific College of Health and Science in New York City, and a Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, Dr. Anaya has clearly demonstrated that she possesses both the intellectual rigor and the specialized training sought by the most discerning of health care consumers. She maintains Board Certification in Traditional Chinese Medicine through the NCCAOM, and attends training in Functional Medicine both domestically and internationally with the acclaimed Institute for Functional Medicine.

On a personal level, Dr. Anaya has been fortunate to lend her practical acupuncture skills to underserved communities in India, alongside the dedicated and tireless workers of the Madurai Charitable Trust. She plans to return to India each year and continue to embrace this amazing opportunity to “pay it forward.”
